Post-SNAG Review

Hello, long time since I last dropped by!

So the 41st National Age Group Championships have finally ended, last weekend. Did 4 handsome PBs out of 4 events. Didn’t make it to the top 8 for all my events but I feel that getting a PB is more important. The whole event took place at the Sports School, the pool water was freezing as usual, but I usually do lots of PBs down there. :)

Swam in the same heat as Derek, Alan and Jun Han for 200m Free on Day 1. At first I thought it would add some spice to my competition. In the end, I came in first for my heat. :) Totally didn’t expect to do a 2:06.63, and I shaved of 4.17 secs. from my previous record of 2:10.80 which I set in June 2009. Quite an unbelievable result, from 2nd last I bulldozed my way to FIRST. Hahaha

Day 2, 400m Free. Felt fully motivated to do well after my swim on the previous day. Swam in the same heat as Matthew. Did a 4:28.44, shaved off 7.51 secs. from my record set in November last year during IVP. Came in first for my heat again, totally unexpected. I never thought I’d break the 4:30 barrier either :).

Day 3, 100m Free. Swam with Zhong Hui and Joey in the same heat. Did a 59.30, means I shaved off 0.71 secs. from my previous record set in November 2009, during IVP. Came in 2nd for my heat. :)

Day 4, final day. 50m Free. Coach told me to go out there and have some fun and get a good timing for myself, since my ‘pet event days are over’. She was pretty pleased with the results I’ve been showing on the first 2 days. Swam in the same heat as Nigel Chan, Andy Wee and Jinson. Did a 27.36, shaved off 0.80 secs. from last year’s record. And came in 2nd for my heat, after Jinson. :) OH not forgetting, I BROKE THE MEET RECORD OF 29.91, SET BY SILAS HO LAST YEAR! :D

Overall, magnificent swimming. 100% Clean sweep of PBs to brighten up my school vacation. :) Everyone’s all fired up now… Gotta watch my back… Added many friends to my Facebook list too. Haha

For those who think they didn’t do well enough, never mind, try harder next time. :) Success tastes sweeter after each failure.

Okay then, that’s all for my update on the recent competition. Later.

Here’s a summary of my timings and how much I shaved off. And my overall position.

50m Free: 27.36 (-0.80), 48th

100m Free: 59.30 (-0.71), 45th

200m Free: 2:06.63 (-4.17), 20th

400m Free: 4:28.44 (-7.51), 12th
